Cook With Asimi ("we," "us," "our") operates cookwithasimi.online and its "Room" creator hub (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Name, email address, profile image, and bio, if you create an account.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
- Password (stored as a salted hash — we never store or see your plain-text password).
Content you provide
- Recipes, comments, reviews and ratings, collections, and any media you upload.
- If you subscribe to a newsletter or digest, your email address and subscription preferences.
Cookies and anonymous browsing data
We use a first-party cookie to recognize your browser before you create an account, so features like "For You" recommendations and your cookie-consent choice persist across visits. Depending on the consent you give in our cookie banner, we may also collect:
- Essential — required for the Service to function (always on).
- Analytics — pages viewed, searches, and clicks, used in aggregate.
- Personalization — used to power recommendations and a "For You" feed.
- Marketing — used for promotional communications and ad relevance.
Where required by law (e.g., under the EU/UK GDPR and ePrivacy rules), non-essential cookies are only set after you consent. Where CCPA/CPRA applies instead, you have the right to opt out — see Section 6.
Connected accounts (Google Drive / Dropbox / OneDrive)
If you choose to import media by connecting Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, we request only file-level access and store an access token plus the minimum file metadata needed to complete that import. We do not browse, scan, or use the rest of your Drive contents, and we never use this access for advertising. You can disconnect access at any time from your account settings.
Google user data: Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data or transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide the import feature you requested.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate your account, your Room, and the recipes/media you publish.
- Show relevant content (Hot/New/For You feeds) and moderate content.
- Send transactional email (sign-in codes, notifications) and, if you opt in, digest email.
- Detect abuse, enforce our Terms, and keep the Service secure.
- With consent, measure usage and personalize recommendations.
3. Who We Share Data With
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who host or run parts of the Service on our behalf, including our database/hosting infrastructure and Resend for transactional and digest email.
- Google, for sign-in and, if you connect it, Drive import.
- [Payment processor name], if you purchase a paid Room subscription.
- Other users, for content you choose to make public (recipes, comments, reviews, your public profile).
- Authorities, if required by law or to protect the Service and its users.
Recipe pages may embed content from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, or Instagram. Playing an embed may let that provider set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy.
4. Data Retention
We keep account and content data while your account is active. Anonymous browsing/cookie data is retained for a limited period (up to 24 months of inactivity) and then deleted or anonymized. You can request earlier deletion — see Section 6.
5. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of personal information as CCPA/CPRA define those terms; we do not sell personal information for money.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at chibuezeorjiene@gmail.com. You can also delete most content and disconnect linked accounts directly from your account settings.
7. International Transfers
Our infrastructure may process data in a country other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or an in-app notice.
